7 girls I wish were more famous

------------
Note 1: This list is based solely on my views, ratings, and choice. They might already be famous, but I am sure these names must be new to a lot of people reading this.

Note 2: This post has high-rez images of all the girls I have listed, and there are some hidden features for the geeks to explore ;)
------------

#7 Mandala Tayde

Remember 'Dil Chahta hai'? The final scene, in which a 'fairy' comes into Akshaye Khanna's life, giving a near-perfect end to a magnificent movie. That fairy was Mandala Tayde :) Born to a German mother and an Indian father, her movie career never really took off.

#6 Roxane Mesquida

It is difficult to get your eyes off this enchanting French actress. She is as sexy as her name. Watch a couple of her French movies just so that you get the pleasure of watching her scorching the screen.

#5 Minka Kelly

Seen '(500) Days of Summer'? How I wish that she played 'Summer' in the movie, or, the movie was named '(500) Days of Autumn', although she looks more like spring to me :D My bet is, she is soon getting better roles in movies very soon. Looking forward to watching her in 'The Roommate'.

#4 Rebecca Hall

This stunning lady acted in 'The Prestige', 'Vicky Christina Barcelona', 'Frost/Nixon' to name a few, but still she hasn't come to get the kind of attention that she deserves.

#3 Vanessa Ferlito

You would know her if you are a Tarantino fan. In 'Death Proof', this Italian-American has probably given the best lap-dance sequence captured on camera EVER. Watch it to believe it.

#2 Paz Vega

I used to believe nobody could give Monica Bellucci a run for her money (I still do...), but my argument got a little weaker when I saw this spanish actress. You would like to watch 'Spanglish' just for her.

#1 Clémence Poésy

Define:veela --> A gorgeous creature that has the power to seduce any man, but will throw balls of fire at you if you piss one off, this is said about these mythical creatures in Harry Potter, and what a master-stroke of casting with Clémence Poésy (Fleur Delaceur) in 'The Goblet of Fire'. 'In Bruges' is a fantastic movie of hers. This French actress, like her name, is poetry personified :)

P.S. : If you wish somebody else was more famous too, feel free to write about them (in the comments).

P.P.S. : Let me know if you liked this post, I can write a couple of more such lists in the future. ;)

The Pandora that is KGP

------------
Note 1: This post has been inspired by a cocktail of nostalgia and one of the most visually spectacular experiences the celluloid has had to offer yet.

Note 2: Please discount a little if at any point this post starts to seem over-the-top. I don't intend to, but it is easy to get carried away by nostalgia, and by the experience that this movie gives.
------------

The most hostile environment known to man - Pandora.

"This is why we're here, Unobtainium. Because this little gray rock sells for twenty million a kilo. Thats the only reason. Its what pays for the whole party, its what pays for the science."

One of the best institutes in the country - IIT.

"That is why we're here, a dream job. Because six-figure is the secret to success in life. Thats the only reason. Its what keeps the party going, and keeps the three-lettered fantasy alive."

Col. Quaritch: "You are not in Kansas anymore. You are on Pandora, ladies and gentleman. Respect that fact."

The Avatar program requires a person to be strong, and extensive training. Humans can be used to control the human-Na'vi hybrid called Avatars. A diplomatic solution was intended by trying to persuade the Na'vis to move and let the humans mine Unobtainium.

The joy that Jake Sully has the first time he st
epped into his Avatar body. He feels the rush, and runs, and enjoys, and becomes the Avatar.

The most rigorous exam in the country. The handfuls who manage to scrape past others in the rat-race. But, the joy, that first day, when you step in, and you look back and say, it was all worth it, these years are going to be the best years of my life. Let me live it!

Neytiri: "You are like a baby, making noise, don't know what to do."

"We will teach you our ways. Learn well, Jake Sully, and then we will see if your insanity can be cured."

And he learns, the Na'vi ways, and the language.

Thank goodness there is a system in place. The hostels, the groups, the people, the culture, the lingo, which is there, to cure the insanity, or maybe to induce it...

(when Jake first flies the banshee) Jake Sully: "I may not be much of a horse guy, but I was born to do this."

God knows how many people realize what were they born to do! And if they don't, then at least they realize that they don't know what they were born to do, and eventually one day, they just might.

Jake Sully: "Everything is backwards now, like out there is the true world and in here is the dream."

"Everything is backwards now, like in here is the true world, and out there is a dream."

...and the sky-people came, and they destroyed the home-tree, all that was so pure, simple and divine, all the time running after something that was unobtainable. And the tree fell, the sky-people saw the destruction, and some were filled with remorse.

They came, took a system which was well-oiled and worked perfectly well, and vowed to bring it to a grinding halt.

Toruk Makto, the rider of the 'Last Shadow", re-unites all the clans, and they fight, to protect something that is for them to protect, and they do it. Eywa helps them do it, and they save the 'Tree of souls'.

All we need is a symbol, to unite us, and save something that is ours, before it is too late.

Jake Sully: "One life ends, another begins..."

3 IDIOTS

------------
Note 1: I had 13 posts this year, which I thought was a lucky number of posts to have, but I am forced to make an exception for 3 IDIOTS.

Note 2: Go watch this movie if you still haven't.
------------

Tired of appreciating and being inspired and moved by global cinema, there develops a longing to see Indian cinema (for patriotic reasons), and along comes a movie that succeeds in making you laugh and cry at the same time, that connects with niche audiences and the masses at the same time, that is meaningful and 'idiot'ic at the same time, and there, there is the hope, and the joy, that Indian cinema is still alive, and breathing.

What Taare Zameen Par did for primary education, 3 IDIOTS does for higher education. You can see the faces of people around you in the characters of this movie, and when you see yourself, wonder strikes and you double-check if the celluloid has just been transformed into a mirror. Full marks to Mr. Hirani for not sticking to the book 'Five Point Someone'.

I forgive Raj Kumar Hirani for taking 'Aal izz well' over the top, I forgive him for the not-so-required dramatic climax involving the childbirth, I forgive him for not roping in an exceptional lyricist and an extraordinary music director (Prasoon Joshi and A R Rahman would have taken this movie to a whole new level), I forgive him for a clichéd characterisation of Boman Irani and a few clichéd dialogues and anecdotes in the movie. In the end, Mr. Hirani succeeds and has won the hearts of countless people.

'Rape' being such a common lingo at campuses for things that go bad in life, this was probably the first time in the history of Indian cinema when not one person in the audience flinched at the use of the word 'balatkar' on screen at the rate of 30 times a minute. There will be atleast one anecdote in the movie which will definitely remind you of your college days and your friends. For me, the movie struck a personal chord with the scene in which the three 'idiots' sit on the stairs and drink, and peek inside themselves to discover who they really are, and what they are meant to do, and then do really stupid things :D

Having visited the Chapora Fort (Goa) recently, which was the set for the famous scene in Dil Chahta Hai, I have added Ladakh to the list of places I want to visit, for the sheer beauty with which they have captured its landscapes in the movie, which goes on to prove, foreign locales are not required to deliver a hit, good script is, and that Indian locales can be as intriguing as, if not more, than any other place in the world.

F***book

------------
Note 1: The *s in the title of the post doesn't stand for what you think it does you pervert. It stands for "ace".

Note 2: "Yo" "Social" "Networking".
------------

Web 2.0 brought with itself an interesting and a rather irritating revolution with it, Social Networking. Let me not talk about Social Networks in general, lets talk about something that has got everyone hooked onto the social media, F***book.

As a concept, I applaud F***book, and I applaud you Mark Zuckerberg. F***book empowers people to stay in touch with family and friends, share pictures, videos, and other interesting things that they may stumble upon the internet. BUT, please, please watch the movie 'Spiderman', and always remember, 'with great power comes great responsibility'.

1. Public Romance

Wow! You are in love? Alright. Congratulations. You make a cute couple. But, if you want to say something to your 'love' about your love, there is an option to send personal message. Writing it on your wall is NOT cute. And, you DON'T have to 'like' each and every post made my him/her. And the picture that he/she just uploaded, I know it looks great, but the comment you just made on it, it can be a little more subtle than "awww...chooo chweeeeett....you look amazinggggg in this picture. luvvvv ya. muah!!!!!!!".

2. What @#^%$# are you?

Seriously? You think I have got nothing better to do with my life than to know what chocolate/ice-cream flavour/mathematical function/movie character/actor/actress/movie quote/song/superhero/$^%$/&^%*&/%^%$^ you are. Trust me, I don't want to know it, and neither does anyone else. Nor do we want to know who your perfect date is, or when are you going to die, or how many people secretly admire you, or how good a kisser you are, or whatever other superpower you might like to have in your fantasy world. Face it, if a f***book quiz says Megan Fox is your perfect match, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET HER. EVER. PERIOD.

3. Farming and the Underworld

Seriously? You have got nothing better to do with your life than to grow strawberries/potatoes/tomatoes and adopt that lonely cow that wandered on your field, and earn ribbons for doing it? And yeah, the bank robberies, gang wars, and the other "underground" activities that you indulge in right under everyone's nose, please DONT try to make me a part of it by sending me an occasional gun, rifle, revolver or money. And just like I dont want to be a mafia, I dont want to be a vampire too, or any other mythical/mythological/imaginary/real creature you might think of. I am perfectly fine the way I am.

And yeah, for all the sufferers due to above, make extravagant use of the 'Block' and the 'Hide' buttons. They are there just to protect us from the atrocities of our fellow human-beings.

F***book...
